The coach, a citizen of the Democratic Republic of Congo (Congo DR), joined Azam FC in July, 2025, leading the club to a successful run in the CAF Confederation Cup, reaching the group stage for the first time in history.
Azam FC's group stage campaign was not a smooth one, as they managed to secure nine points and become the only Tanzanian team to reach that tally points in the Continental clubs tournaments this season.
Apart from performing well Internationally, Ibenge has so far led the club to the semi-finals of the CRDB Confederation Cup while in the NBC Premier League, they are in third place.
Ibenge's signing of a new contract was witnessed by Azam FC Chief Executive Officer, Octavi Anoro, who made it clear that they have decided to extend the contract for the coach, in order to continue with a long-term project and future vision, trusting the Congolese's knowledge and experience in achieving goals.
"I am very happy and grateful to the bosses, when I signed it was for one year and now it's been two years and I am happy with my job and I am happy to be here (Azam FC)," said Ibenge, immediately after signing the new contract.
Ibenge, who is a five-star coach in African football due to his history of winning major African titles such as the CHAN Cup with the Congo DR National Team, the African Confederation Cup with Berkane, has been a major catalyst in taking Azam FC to the success that it has been dreaming of for seasons.
